Principal's Corner

Greetings Parents and Community,

Welcome to the Grape Street Elementary School Website! I hope that the information on our site provides you with useful tools for ongoing communication between the school and our families.

Through the efforts of our teachers, the positive attitudes of our students, and the sincere support of our parents and community, we are making great strides in improvement in academic excellence. Students are coming to school with an attitude of taking responsibility for their own learning. We are maintaining high goals and clear expectations. As I visit the classrooms, I am so excited to see our teachers and students engaged in the best practices of teaching and learning. We are addressing the standards, assessing the lessons taught, reflecting upon our instructional practices, and re-teaching where help is needed.

We are also striving for all of our students to achieve 96% attendance or better. Please help us soar with improved school attendance by making sure your children attends school every day and arrives by 8:05 a.m. Our Eagles thrive with less than six absences!

As the end of the school year approaches, we are entering the season of celebration. I am looking forward to seeing many parents at our Father and Daughter Dance, Mother & Son Breakfast, Kindergarten End of Year Recognition, as well as the Pre-K and 5th Grade Culminations. We are extremely proud of the accomplishments of our students this school year.

The children will have nine weeks off for summer break. During this time, please visit the library and make sure they continue to read and write something daily. Keep safety first and foremost. Remind your children to play in a safe area, do not talk to strangers, and look both ways before crossing the streets.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me or your child’s classroom teacher at (323) 564-5941.
